Understanding Overwatch Teams – How You Should Get Organized

There is always strength in numbers – which is why, when you are playing in a league, you will also need to determine which Overwatch teams you are playing for. By choosing the right players for your team, you should be able to raise your Overwatch team rankings and gain more loot in the process. More loot means better chances of bringing your enemies down.

However, it might be quite difficult for new players to understand exactly how a team works – and why you need one. This is why you will have to learn the basics of a team playing in Overwatch, as it will help you organize the quest and win.

The Team Division: Creating the Overwatch Teams

Regardless if you are a beginner or are going for Overwatch pro teams, you will have to play by joining a team. Overwatch is a team-based game – which means that you will not be able to play alone (unless you are going for practice or AI matches – in which case, you will also be playing in an Overwatch team).

That being said, if you are actually trying to be an active game player, you will either need to form a team – or join a team. Overwatch is played with teams of 6 players – with two teams playing against each other. Each team strengthens itself by the strength and power of the player – which is why you might want to continuously level up until you become the best Overwatch team.

All new Overwatch league teams will have to come up with Overwatch teams names and go for the one that is most descriptive of them. This way, whenever a competition occurs – international or not – they will know exactly how high up the ranking they are going. The team brings additional strength by using the role each member was assigned.

Organizing the Team: How Everyone Wins

In order to be on the winning side, the best Overwatch teams have to be properly organized. This is why, after deciding on an Overwatch team name, each player will need to determine their own roles – and each team will need to have at least one of the following in order to win:

  • Tank: Tank Players that are responsible for receiving the bulk of the impact, soaking up the damage as they are going with their tank and breaking up the enemy groups in order to gain the advantage.
  • Damage: As their name suggests, these team players are there to deal damage. They can be quite vulnerable in comparison to tank players, which is why they need quite a lot of backup.
  • Support: Support players are the backup that the damage players need. Acting as the backbone of the team, they help their allies by shielding, healing, boosting their damage power, and disabling their enemies.

The Bottom Line

Ideally, the top Overwatch teams should have two members of each player mentioned above. However, depending on how they want to be as a team, they may choose the numbers in whichever way they wish.
